“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”

Some of the heaviest burdens we carry are not visible. They are the harsh words we remember, the broken trust we can’t forget, and the pain left behind by people we once loved.

Forgiveness is one of the hardest things God asks us to do. It doesn’t mean pretending the hurt never happened or allowing others to keep causing harm. It means choosing not to let bitterness control your heart.

Colossians 3:13 reminds us to bear with one another and forgive, just as Christ forgave us. We have all made mistakes. We have all needed grace. The same mercy God freely extends to us is the mercy He calls us to extend to others.

Forgiveness is not about saying, “What you did was okay.” It is about saying, “I refuse to let this pain define my future.”

When we forgive, we make room for healing. We replace anger with peace, resentment with freedom, and hopelessness with God’s love. Sometimes forgiveness happens in a moment. Other times, it is a choice we make again and again. Either way, God walks with us through the process.

Today, ask yourself: Is there someone I need to forgive? Is there someone from whom I need to seek forgiveness?

Choosing forgiveness may not change the past, but it can transform your future. As Christ has forgiven us, may we also forgive one another—and discover the freedom that only grace can bring.
